Strictly Tackle - Spinnerbaits - Fishing Hooks - Soft Baits - BuzzbaitsBy: Strict Lee Split shot fishing sinkers come in two different styles one easily removeable and the other is a one time use sinker. Split shot are used for adding just a little weight. Split shot typically are small in size and average in weight from #B, #BB, #3/0, #7, #5, #4, #3, and #2. Egg sinkers got thier name because of thier shape. With an egg sinker the fishing line is run down the center of the sinker from end to end. The main benifit to using an egg sinker is that your fishing line can slide freely through the hole without spooking a fish that feels the weight you have on your rig. Common egg sinker sizes are #10 Size 1/8, #9 Size 1/4, #8 Size 1/2, #7 Size 3/4, #6 Size 1, #5 Size 1 1 1/2, #4 Size 2, #3 Size 3. Pinch grip fishing sinkers are very similar to egg sinkers, except the fishing line is held into place by a small rubber piece that goes into a thin groove running the length of the sinker. Because of the thin rubber holding the fishing line in place, no tools are needed when changing pinch grip sinkers. Common pinch grip sinkers sizes are #1 Size 1/16, #2 Size 1/8, #3 Size 1/4, #4 Size 3/8, #5 Size 1/2. Low profile slip sinkers are cone shaped with a small space for the line to pass at the tip of the cone. Low profile slip sinkers are commonly with rubber worms rigs. They allow the worm to work while keeping it on the bottom, due to the cone shape getting the rubber worm through weeds is eased because of the low profile slip sinker. Common low profile slip sinker sizes are #0 Size 1/64, #1 Size 1/32, #2 Size 3/16, #3 Size 1/4, #3.5 Size 3/8, #5 Size 1/2 Links; Ultimate fishing lures
